Juventus have finalized the signing of Brazilian international Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa. Last season, Luiz played a Important role in Unai Emery’s midfield, helping Aston Villa secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League.
To comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Regulations (PSR), Villa needed to offload players. They sold young talents Tim Iroegbunam to Everton and Omari Kellyman to Chelsea. In exchange, Aston Villa acquired winger Lewis Dobbin from Everton and full-back Ian Maatsen from Chelsea.
The pivotal sale Aston Villa required was Douglas Luiz, whose transfer to Juventus has been completed for €50 million. Despite being on Copa America 2024 duty with Brazil, the 26-year-old has signed a five-year contract with Juventus.
As part of the deal, Aston Villa is expected to secure Juventus prospects Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea for up to £18.6 million (€22m).
Furthermore, Aston Villa is reportedly interested in bringing back Ross Barkley from Luton Town, where he previously played during the 2020-21 season.
Over the last two seasons, Douglas Luiz has been a standout performer for Villa, leading in chances created (98), set-piece assists (42), interceptions (63), and tackles (130) among all players in the squad.
