France vs. Spain Showdown: High Stakes in Euro 2024 Semi-Finals
Spain and France will battle it out at the Allianz Arena, Munich on Tuesday for a place in the UEFA Euro 2024 showdown. Spain have been the most impressive side at the continental competition so far and they took out the hosts Germany in the quarter-finals while France bested Portugal on penalties.
La Roja suffered an early setback against Germany, with Pedri picking up an injury inside the first 10 minutes of the Match. However, it was his replacement, Dani Olmo, who drew first blood for the Spaniards by neatly depositing the ball in the back of the net from a measured Lamine Yamal pass to the edge of the box.
Tasked with breaking down a solid Spanish defense to claw their way back into the match, Germany came away with conviction. Buoyed by their raucous home support, their efforts finally paid off with just over a minute of the 90th remaining.
What Happens if France Beats Spain or loses, tie?
If France wins, they will secure a direct spot in the final on Sunday, July 14, at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. Their opponent will be the winner of the other semifinal between England and the Netherlands.
If the match ends in a draw after regular time, it will proceed to extra time, which consists of two 15-minute halves. If the tie persists after extra time, the game will be decided by a penalty shootout. The winner of the shootout will advance to the final.
If Spain defeats France, Les Bleus will be eliminated from the competition. Spain will go to the Euro final. It’s important to note that UEFA Euro does not have a match for 3rd and 4th place.
