Spain’s Lamine Yamal continues to see records tumble as the Roja winger made history with his UEFA Euro 2024 final appearance on Sunday.
Lamine Yamal made history as the youngest player to ever appear in a World Cup or European Championship final during Spain’s UEFA Euro 2024 Final against England in Berlin.
At just 17 years and 1 day old, Yamal broke Pele’s 1958 World Cup record of 17 years and 249 days for Brazil against Sweden.
The teenager has enjoyed a remarkable tournament for Spain so far, scoring an extraordinary goal in Tuesday’s 2-1 semi-final win over France.
Yamal also has 4 assists in Euro 2024, the most by a Spanish player at the tournament in history.
Spain aimed to make history by becoming the first team to win the European Championship 4 times, with previous victories in 1964, 2008, and 2012.
Yamal’s record-setting appearance was complemented by another historic moment, as it was the first time two teenagers started in a Euros or World Cup final, with England’s midfielder Kobbie Mainoo joining him in this milestone.
