The 2024 Ballon d’Or is set to be one of the most exciting in recent years. The award, presented by France Football, is given annually to the best men’s footballer in the world.

Since 2008, just two players other than  Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have won the Ballon d’Or, with the two superstars having won all but two of the prizes over 15 years. Lionel Messi, in particular, has claimed the Ballon d’Or a record eight times.

When is the Ballon d’Or 2024?

The 68th Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place on Monday, October 28, at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris. This annual event has become a symbol of footballing excellence since its inception.

The nominees will be announced on September 4, 2024. This year’s event brings an exciting twist: UEFA will co-organize the gala with France Football. Additionally, two new awards will debut: Men’s Coach of the Year and Women’s Coach of the Year, celebrating the vital contributions of coaches to their teams’ successes.

The ceremony is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. local time (2 p.m. ET).
