FC Barcelona Set to Welcome Home Dani Olmo
Barcelona is on the brink of securing a major transfer coup with the imminent signing of attacking midfielder Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig. The Spanish international, a product of the club’s famed La Masia academy, is poised to return to the Camp Nou after a successful career in Germany.
This comes after original Barcelona target Nico Williams decided to stay at Athletic Club until at least 2025, despite interest from top clubs such as Arsenal and Chelsea.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Barca have offered Dani Olmo a contract until 2030. The proposed deal includes a guaranteed transfer fee of €55 million ($59.3 million), plus €4 million ($4.3 million) in “easy add-ons” and another €3 million ($3.2 million) in “difficult extras”.
The potential arrival of Olmo means a significant boost to Barcelona’s attacking options. He contributed nine goals and assists in just 21 Bundesliga appearances last season and played a key role in Spain’s European Championship success. At 26, Dani Olmo brings experience and creative flair, making him an ideal addition to Xavi’s squad.
The move also marks a homecoming for Dani Olmo, who spent seven formative years at FC Barcelona’s La Masia academy before leaving for Dinamo Zagreb in 2014.
After a successful spell in Croatia and a subsequent move to Leipzig for 29 million euros ($31.3 million), Olmo has scored 29 goals and provided 34 assists in 148 games.
As Barcelona continue their summer rebuild, Olmo could become their second major signing following the arrival of Pau Victor from Girona.
With Bayern Munich and Manchester United also showing interest, Barcelona moved quickly to secure Olmo’s services and bolster their attacking lineup for the upcoming season.
