Barcelona Agree Deal to Bring Back Dani Olmo
Barcelona have secured a deal to sign Spanish midfielder Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig. After months of speculation, the Catalan giants have verbally agreed with the Bundesliga club for a transfer fee of €55 million with an additional €7 million in potential add-ons.
Sporting director Deco had an important meeting in RB Leipzig this week to hammer out the terms of the deal and it appears he has succeeded in his mission.
Olmo will return to Barcelona after leaving the club as a 16-year-old to join Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb in a bid for immediate first-team opportunities. He was then sold to Leipzig in January 2020 and cemented his place as one of Europe’s best midfielders. Remarkably, he has never played in La Liga despite racking up 39 caps for Spain.
Although initially starting as a bench player, Olmo played a key role in Spain’s success at Euro 2024, finishing as the competition’s joint top scorer and being named in the team of the tournament. Ironically, he came into the team in place of injured Barcelona midfielder Pedri.
