Luka Modric Crowned Real Madrid’s All-Time Greatest
Luka Modric has etched his name into Real Madrid folklore, becoming the club’s most decorated player ever. The Croatian maestro lifted his 27th trophy with Los Blancos on Wednesday, following their 2-0 victory over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup.
While the UEFA Super Cup was the first trophy Modric lifted as Madrid captain, it was his 27th overall in a legendary 12-year career at the Santiago Bernabeu The midfielder won the UEFA Champions League six, five Club World Cups, five European Super Cups, Four La Liga titles, two Copas del Rey and five Spanish Super Cups.
The 38-year-old, who joined Los Blancos from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, has made more than 530 appearances for the club and played a key role in the Spanish giants’ success since arriving in Madrid.
Modric’s 27th trophy puts him ahead of former captain Nacho Fernandez – who left the club as a free agent this summer. Dani Carvajal boasts 26 Madrid silverware, while Karim Benzema and Marcelo have won 25 trophies.
With 2024/25 being Modric’s last season at the Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid are hoping to see even more success. They travel to Mallorca on Saturday in their season opener, while their first Champions League game is expected to take place in September.
