Brazil Calls Up New Faces for Crucial World Cup Qualifiers
Brazil’s national team has announced its squad for the upcoming South American World Cup qualifiers. The Seleção will face Ecuador on September 6 in Curitiba and Paraguay on September 10 in Asunción. These matches are crucial for Brazil, currently sitting in sixth place in the standings after a disappointing string of results.
Dorival Júnior, who took over as coach earlier this year, will make his official debut in the qualifiers. Under his guidance, Brazil was eliminated from the Copa América in the quarterfinals. However, he has overseen impressive results in friendlies, including a 1-0 victory over England at Wembley and a 3-3 draw against Spain at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Several new faces have been included in the squad. Estêvão Willian of Palmeiras, Botafogo’s star signing, and Flamengo’s top scorer, Pedro, are among the notable additions. Ederson returns after missing the 2024 Copa América due to injury. The Real Madrid trio of Vinicius, Rodrygo, and Endrick have also been called up.
As Brazil aims to secure a place in the 2026 World Cup, these matches will be crucial tests for the team and its new coach.
