Man City’s Haaland Hat Trick Sinks Ipswich Town
Manchester City dominated Ipswich Town in their Premier League clash, securing a convincing 4-1 victory. Erling Haaland led the charge with a hat trick, while Kevin De Bruyne also contributed a goal.
Sammie Szmodics sparked jubilant scenes at the end as Premier League new boys Ipswich stole a surprise lead in the seventh minute with a superb counter-attack.
But Haaland equalized from the spot just five minutes later and after Kevin De Bruyne capitalized on Arijanet Muric’s error, Pep Guardiola’s men were 3-1 up with just 16 minutes remaining.
The Norway star grabbed the match point by scoring a fourth goal in the closing stages, but in reality the damage was long overdue in that devastating four-minute goal spree.
Szmodics looped a pass through the legs of Ederson but Leif Davis slotted past Savinha to equalize for Haaland in the 12th minute.
Muric’s hesitation led to De Bruyne rolling into the empty net and another rush of blood to the head saw Haaland round the keeper in the 16th minute to head home a corner from De Bruyne’s excellent cross.
Haaland saw his header saved by Muric’s fine save just after the hour mark, but his superb 20-yard drive into the bottom right-hand corner two minutes from time completed the hat-trick.
