Thomas Muller Breaks Bayern’s Bundesliga Appearance Record
Bayern Munich legend Thomas Muller has cemented his place in the club’s history books after surpassing Sepp Maier’s record for most Bundesliga appearances.
Thomas Muller is now the absolute record holder in Bundesliga appearances for Bayern Munich.
Muller came off the bench to help Bayern come from behind to beat Wolfsburg in Vincent Kompany’s first league game on Sunday.
This marked Muller’s 474th Bundesliga appearance for the club and overtook Sepp Maier as Bayern’s record holder in the competition.
The 34-year-old impressed immediately after his introduction and helped force Jakub Kaminski into an own goal to restore parity.
Muller, who was also involved in Sunday’s winner when he set up Harry Kane, who in turn equalized for Serge Gnabry, has now won 340 Bundesliga games, more than any other player in the competition since his Bayern debut.
In the same period, Muller scored 149 league goals, the third most in Germany’s top flight, provided 169 assists and created 927 goalscoring opportunities in the competition.
