Barcelona Misses Out on Chiesa as He Joins Liverpool
Barcelona has suffered a setback in their transfer pursuit, with Federico Chiesa opting to join Liverpool instead. The Italian international, who was available on a cut-price fee due to his expiring contract with Juventus, has agreed to a four-year deal with the Premier League giants.
It comes as reports have emerged that the Italy international – from Thiago Motta’s Turin project – has been identified as the ideal low-cost, high-remuneration Camp Nou brass.
Chiesa’s terms at Juventus expire next summer, so the 26-year-old is available for a cut price.
As mentioned above, while the versatile striker will be wearing new colors this coming season, he won’t be doing much with Barcelona.
Instead, as confirmed by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Chiesa has agreed terms to move to Liverpool from the Premier League:
“Federico Chiesa to Liverpool, let’s do it! Deal done for an initial fee of 13 million euros with add-ons. Four-year deal for Chiesa as Liverpool’s new player, set to fly out today.”
