Barcelona’s Pablo Torre Replaces Injured Fermín López in Spain U21 Squad
Barcelona midfielder Pablo Torre has been called up to the Spain U21 national team to replace Fermín López, who was forced to withdraw due to a muscle injury. Torre’s inclusion comes after his impressive performances during Barcelona’s pre-season.
For those who may have missed it, it comes after Fermín López was sent back to base in the Catalan capital this morning by Spain’s under-21 team medics.
So much has happened because of what is described as a “muscular injury that will keep him out of the national team’s two matches this September”. Santi Denia and his team had the decision to replace Fermín in the national team.
And as mentioned above, La Roja eventually settled on one of Fermín’s club-mates at Barcelona.
On the back of an impressive pre-season show under Hansi Flick, Pablo Torre has been called up for Spain U21’s upcoming meetings with Scotland and Hungary.
“Pablo Torre will join the Spain Under-21 team in a few hours. The player from Cantabria replaces Fermín López in the lineup,” it said.
