In an impressive display, Barcelona secured a commanding 5-1 victory over Villarreal on Sunday, with Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha each netting two goals. After suffering their first defeat of the season against Monaco in the Champions League midweek, Hansi Flick’s squad bounced back brilliantly in LaLiga, marking their sixth consecutive league win.
Lewandowski opened the scoring with two goals within the first 35 minutes, but Villarreal responded quickly with a goal from Ayoze Perez. However, Barcelona quickly regained control, with Pablo Torre extending the lead to 3-1 after halftime. Raphinha then capped off the rout with two late goals, solidifying the team’s dominance.
Unfortunately, the match saw Barcelona lose goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen just before halftime. The German shot-stopper fell and was visibly in pain, requiring a stretcher to leave the pitch.
Despite the injury setback, Barcelona remains at the top of the LaLiga standings, maintaining a four-point lead over defending champions Real Madrid in second place.
