Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos has received an unexpected opportunity to prolong his illustrious football career with Zamalek, a prominent club in Egyptian football. The Cairo-based team, known for their impressive track record, has won the CAF Champions League five times and boasts 14 national championships, alongside 28 Egypt Cups, including seven victories in the last 12 seasons.
Despite Zamalek’s historical success, their continental glory peaked in the 1980s and 1990s, and they recently finished third in the 2024 Egyptian Premier League. At 38 years old, Ramos departed Sevilla at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season in Spain but appears eager to continue playing, with his services being actively promoted to various clubs.
Ahmed Shawky, Zamalek’s media coordinator, shared insights with ESPN, stating, “Some agents and mediators offered the possibility. Sergio Ramos is a fantastic player who has achieved everything with Real Madrid and Spain. He would be a tremendous asset for any team in the Middle East or Africa.”
