Alphonso Davies: A Top Free Transfer Target for Barcelona in Summer 2024
Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies has emerged as a key target for Barcelona in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to reports. The Canadian international, who has been linked with a move to Barcelona’s rivals Real Madrid, may now be on the Catalan club’s radar as his contract with Bayern expires next summer.
While Real Madrid recently extended Ferland Mendy’s contract until 2027, Barcelona is exploring options to strengthen their squad amid financial constraints. Currently sitting at the top of La Liga after winning eight of their first nine matches, Barcelona is keen on securing talented players on free transfers.
In addition to Davies, Barcelona is also monitoring other players with expiring contracts, including Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah and Atletico Madrid’s Reinildo. Lille attacker Jonathan David, another Canadian international, is also on their list of potential signings.
The addition of either Davies or Reinildo would enhance Barcelona’s left-back options, as Alejandro Balde currently has limited competition from youth product Gerard Martin. However, Barcelona may face stiff competition from Premier League giants Manchester United, who have expressed interest in Davies. Despite their pursuit, United is reportedly not overly confident in securing the talented left-back’s signature.
As the summer transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Alphonso Davies and his potential move to Barcelona, a deal that could significantly impact both clubs.
