Ancelotti Remains Optimistic After Real Madrid’s 4-0 Defeat to Barcelona in Clasico
Carlo Ancelotti has emphasized that Real Madrid will not “throw everything in the trash” following their heavy 4-0 defeat to Barcelona in the first Clasico of the season at the Santiago Bernabeu. This loss marked Madrid’s first league defeat since September 2023, when they fell 3-1 to Atletico Madrid.
The match saw Robert Lewandowski shine with two goals, while young talents Lamine Yamal and Raphinha also found the net, solidifying Barcelona’s position at the top of LaLiga. Despite the setback, Madrid remains six points behind their rivals but Ancelotti is choosing to stay calm, recalling a similar 4-0 defeat to Barcelona during their successful 2021-22 season.
“We don’t have to throw everything in the trash; we have to forget the last 30 minutes,” Ancelotti stated. He noted that the game was competitive until Barcelona scored their first goal, and he felt Madrid had more chances to take the lead.
Ancelotti pointed out that Madrid struggled against Barcelona’s high defensive line, being caught offside eight times in the first half alone, with Kylian Mbappe flagged multiple times throughout the match. The coach explained that Madrid had planned to exploit Barcelona’s high line, but failed to capitalize on the opportunities presented.
“We had three or four chances where we needed more success. I don’t regret our approach. It’s a tough moment, as always when you lose, especially after so many games unbeaten,” he added.
As Madrid looks to regroup and refocus, Ancelotti’s optimism suggests that the team will continue to strive for success in the remainder of the season.
